Romo wallcoverings at Julia Clare

by Julia 22. July 2010 10:39

Just take a look at this gorgeous Romo wallcovering in what must be one of Surrey's most sumptuous cloakrooms.  The Romo Grandis Flock damask adds such a rich and decadentf eel to the area, and reflected against the silver tones of the mirror frame, it has worked really well in a small space where you wouldn't usually be so daring with pattern.

Romo wallcoverings are all available on line so if you are looking for something similar just look up Grandis Flock under the Romo wallcoverings section at Julia Clare and shop shop shop!

James Hare curl free silk at Julia Clare

by Julia 20. July 2010 11:41

James Hare have recently launched Savoy silk, a curl free silk satin which drastically reduces the make up time involved compared to a standard James Hare fabric.  The weight of this material also helps the drape and fold giving a truly exceptional finish.  Re coloured and including vibrant reds which we are looking forward to seeing a lot more of in the Autumn it will soon be available on line at Julia Clare.

Romo Linara Fabrics best seller at Julia Clare

by Julia 15. July 2010 09:56

Well its official - Romo Linara fabric is the bestselling material in our on-line range! Not a great surpirse really - Linara fabric is so tactile you just want to be close to it, and if you also take account of the practicality aspects - it has a 36,000 rub test, comes in a standard or flame treated finish ready for upholstery and is washable at 40 degrees it just ticks every box.

It cant be just us who find this a winner of a fabric - the Romo Linara Fabric book is now on its third addition and in total offers approximately 250 colours, so a big cheer for Romo from us - our clients love Linara fabric and we look forward to book number four, five and six at least! Watch This Space

by Julia 9. July 2010 10:37

There is certainly an argument to say feature walls are well and truly "done", but as wallpaper is still so very fashionable, and there are achingly good wallpaper designs being produced every season - it seems wrong to just drop the opportunity of a fabulous wallcovering in your home.  Instead of picking out the usual chimney breast, I have recently finished a project where we built a single wall positioned centrally in a totally open plan house, solely for the use of a feature, so it measures just the right size for exactly one roll of wallpaper.

This gives an opportunity to update the whole look and feel of the house everytime the wall is re-decorated to show the latest colours or designs.  Because the wall sits centrally in the open plan floor area, it radiates its colour and design throughout the ground floor. Even if you go OTT on your paper choice and pay out £100 per roll - it still must be the most cost effective way of updating your look on a large scale?  This picture belows shows the wall off with a Romo Anoko stripe, but have a look at the new Romo Folia wallcoverings from some really fabulous textures and lustrous looks.

Mix It Up

by Julia 5. July 2010 14:08

I was getting a little bored the other weekend so thought I would apply a bit of a makeover to the house. What is it they say about necessity being the mother of invention? Well the current economic climate has really made the make do and mend, handmade type style fashionable, and its just great fun to work with. Lots of colour, pattern and texture all mixed around, make it a really easy look to create.

I re-vamped a few old Ikea lampshades and cushion pads in a couple of hours - have a look and see what you think. You can get bags of fabric pieces from our workrooms, along with sample ribbons and trims but also have a look on line - there are masses of odd bits and pieces around. The possibilities are endless......... watch out for more on trend ideas soon.

Julia Clare workrooms chosen to produce the Malabar launch

by Julia 2. July 2010 14:53

We never like to say no to our customers so have a look at what we just did!  Elephant blankets were the order of the day and on the theory that its sort of like covering a sofa, we were up for the challenge!  Proudly it was our workrooms here in Surrey that were asked to produce the soft furnishings for the Malabar shoot in India, and we thought you might like to look at how they all turned out.  Quite the best dressed elephants I have seen in a while if I do say so myself!
